Best sushi in the area! Quality of their fish is always very good and Peter is always friendly with creative sushi suggestions. Although the outside of the building looks dilapidated and unwelcome, the sushi is so yummy we refer people to eat here with confidence.

Fresh fresh fresh and yum! My wife and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary here the other night. Food was great service was great. I give it my highest rating.

I get to eat here a lot since I work nearby. I have to say their service is always awesome and they keep the place clean constantly. Rates are affordable and they serve sizeable portions.

We've been going here for 10 years and are always happy with the sushi - fresh and delicious. we often get the chirashi at lunch because you cannot beat the deal - usually includes tuna tartare, white fish, yellow tail and traditional red tuna, salmon, and many other kinds of fresh fish over rice with sea weed and more

Hands down this is the best sushi in the area. Always fresh and served at just the right temp. Combined my spouse and I have been eating here for 15 plus years on a weekly basis- and have NEVER had a bad meal. If I were you I'd ignore the negative comments and try it your self. The place is not fancy, but it is clean, and the staff are friendly - especially once they get to know you.

This is where my family goes for a celebration dinner. It's not cheap, and it is fusion sushi, but we love it. We particularly like the spicy tuna pizza, the basil leaf sandwiches (deep fat fried basil taking the place of bread, with a chunk of raw fish in between), and are always experimenting with which rolls we prefer.

Bento box is a good deal, sashimi ok but not great.

Our entire family loves Ota-Ya. The exceptional service staff has watched my son grow up eating sushi and watched with delight as he mastered chopsticks. Lovely food.

Sushi is always great...best in our area for sure! We've had sushi in NY, Philly, San Fran etc and I have to admit this little place always rates at the top! Our favorite rolls: Godzilla, Spicy Rock & Valentine!

Amazing food and well sized portions. Service here is nice, fast, and responsive. Lunch is great too with good prices. Sadly the restaurant itself feels a bit run down. Carpets are worn, paint is peeling, and there's signs of water damage throughout. It gives an impression that it doesn't deserve considering the quality of the rest of the experience is great.

The Sushi Pizza appetizer is to die for! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. The restaurant itself looks fancy but it's authentic, and very comfortable. It's BYOB and there is a liquor store across the street. I'll definitely be back!

Great food, a lot of people visit the site, is better if make reservations

The food here is excellent - Five stars for the food. I took off a star because of a few small negatives (1) The place has a slightly dirty feel and needs to be renovated (2) The downstairs is packed solid. The tables are really close together. (3) Sometimes it is crowded and you have to wait (4) Parking is less than ideal. Again, nothing wrong with the food or the service at the sushi bar.

I tried this place before with my friend and I am hooked ever since. I love the awesome character and fresh food and drinks. 5 stars.

Great sushi, and byob! Only negative is that it can be slow getting any/all of your food. On a (somewhat) busy night it can take as long as an hour to get 6 rolls. Half an hour just for your miso. Sushi quality is consistently very good but we often don't have the patience to wait without appetizers for over 45 min (soup and salad should be so quick out of the kitchen).

Very good sushi! We love this place. Its byob and very popular with the locals. My son usually gets the Terriyaki chicken which is also excellent. Food always tastes very fresh. Highly recommend. P.S. You may need a reservation on the weekends.

two days ago was the first time we came to that fine restaurant. But It is definitely not the last time. We had a good time with the generous service, with the great dishes and wine and with the modest cost. We will absolutely go back there in a short time.

The best Japanese food around, hands down. I've been going to Ota-Ya for years and have recommended it to numerous friends. There are lots of regulars who return, and the wonderful waitresses are on a first name basis with many of them. The food is top notch. And it's not just the fresh sushi. It's the appetizers that keep me craving to always return! Here are my staples that I always get and I HIGHLY recommend others to at least try: Spicy Tuna Pizza, Volcano Salad, Agadashi Tofu, New Style Sashimi,. I've tried the tuna pizza and agadashi tofu at other restaurants, but they all fail in comparison to Ota-Ya's versions. Oh and they are BYOB and fairly priced!I love this place and wish I wrote a review sooner!

This place is a staple and standard for good quality sushi and ingredients. Always fresh, and flavorful the chefs savory special rolls are unique for sure. The appetizers compliment the meals well and get you prepared for the flavors of freshness.Their sushi displays for big party platters are absolutely beautiful and no place around that I know prepares them so swiftly and elegantly as the fine people of this establishment do.Come here if you want to eat by yourself, with a date, or with a party. The authentic experience will have you happy you visited, and will have you coming back the next time you’re in town.

This spot is my favored. I go to plenty of restaurants but to this restaurant I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very friendly and the food they place on your table is so delicious. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice dinner here. I recommend this place with pleasure.

I always enjoy the fresh, great quality, well prepared sushi and ther presentation is beauriful!

I am giving 1 star not because of the food, because that was actually good, but because of the poor customer service when we were there. We were stopped, while leaving, saying we did not pay enough. I asked if all of our food portions were paid and she said yes, but that we didn’t tip enough. A tip is an added bonus and not something anyone is entitled to HOWEVER we all tipped 20%. She literally held us up over this until I told everyone to leave. I will never go back because of the greediness of this woman. Here’s a tip...don’t assume you deserve one!

Fantastic sushi and great "kitchen food". The dinner box is two meals' worth of food. Don't forget to BYOB!
